Lower Garden District Famous HouseAvailable

The Rountree Bland House is a gothic revival double gallery home widely attributed to noted New Orleans architect James Freret. The home was built in 1869 by Austen Woolfolk Rountree, a wholesale grocer who would later become a railroad executive and the Sheriff of Jefferson Parish. Throughout the 20th Century the house has only been owned by three families: the Rountree family through 1907, the Nicholls family until 1965, and Rosamond Long, daughter of Earl, through 2001. It was purchased, as an abandoned and blighted multi-family home, on January 30, 2014 by Andrea St. Paul Bland.
